Into the Fae by Quinn Loftis

Into the Fae (The Gypsy Healer Series, Book 1)
By Quinn Loftis

Synopsis

With peace finally descending on the Romanian Grey Wolves, longtime fae ambassador to the wolves, Perizada, has been given a new mission by the Great Luna. But Peri’s desire for revenge against her sister, Lorelle, burns in her heart. Further complicating matters, the great white wolf, Lucian Lupei, has been returned to the pack after centuries trapped in the Dark Forest, and it appears he is destined to be with Peri. Can she put aside her thoughts of vengeance long enough to accept Lucian’s love and complete her mission?

Excerpts

Excerpt 3

“So she isn’t with your group?” Anna asked.
“No,” Crina answered. “She is quite the opposite of being with our group.”
“But you know her?”
“Not exactly,” Sally rejoined the conversation, feeling slightly better that Costin was making sure that Lorelle wasn’t hanging around outside waiting to ambush them. “It’s quite a long story but the short version is that she’s evil.”
“Wicked,” Crina confirmed.
“Psycho,” Sally added.
“Diabolical.”
“Maniacal.”
Anna’s head bounced back and forth between the two as they tossed out adjectives.
“What their trying to say is she’s bat shit crazy and she will stab you in the back with a spoon, dig your heart out and feed it to the vultures,” Peri’s voice came from behind Anna.

Excerpt 5

“I thought we already talked about this, Peri,” Sally said without standing up.
“Don’t get your herbs in a boiling beaker, gypsy lady. She just needs your help casting the spell, that’s all.” Peri said as she pointedly looked at her finger nails, inspecting them closely.
“Why do I feel like there is more to it than that?” Costin asked.
“Look,” Peri said shortly. “What I can guarantee is that you don’t have to sacrifice a puppy, you don’t have castrate and elephant and you don’t have to reenact the Lion King with Jen’s baby held up in the air, over a ledge with a bunch of hungry beasts hoping you will drop it, while singing a song about the circle of life. Oh, and you don’t have to give up either of your ovaries. So how much more to it can there really be?”

My Review:

I love this series!!! I am in love with the Grey Wolves series and now reading from Perizada's POV is exciting! Unfortunately you don't see the old gang other then small glimpses of them from Perizada or Sally. Now, I won't spoil the surprise that is about to happen in our werewolf packs, but if you have read the last Grey Wolves book, then you already know!!
This book is about Perizada and her "mate" Lucian. She is very stubborn and hard headed, but so is he. He has been in the Dark forest for a long time. He came for a time where women cover up their bodies. Things are very different for him.
Never underestimate the power of a mate especially if they are of the fae type or the Hot werewolf type.
Quinn Loftis has outdone herself this time. I wonder if  Jen was giving her advice!! The way everything is described in detail is just magical. It is the one of my favorite werewolf book series EVER!!! I look forward to the second book and the last for the Grey Wolves series!!!

BLURB

One lost love.

One lost best friend.

One hot soul reaper.

Straight out of the psyche ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn’t want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. The love of her life, the guy she’s loved from a distance for years, has moved away without saying goodbye. So yes, she’s nursing a serious heartbreak. It’s no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her life.

The chemistry between them is mind-blowing. The connection defies logic. It doesn’t help that Echo is the poster boy for everything she hates in a guy—hot, beautiful, and cocky. A general pain-in-the-butt. Being around him makes her feel more alive than she’s ever felt before. But more important, the souls leave her alone when he is around.

Echo is perfect for her. Echo might even be her soul-mate. There is only one problem. Echo is a freaking soul reaper. A Grimnir. The very beings she wants out of her life. Maybe normal is overrated because Cora wants it all. Answers. Love. A life. You see, once you fall for a Grimnir, your life will never be the same again.

EXCERPT

“You should be scared,” Torin added slowly. “Her powers are emerging fast. Within a year, you’ll tremble in her presence.”

Echo sighed melodramatically and studied my face, his unusual eyes gleaming. “So you’re saying I can’t have this one?”

“You don’t touch her. Ever. Let’s go.”

Echo laughed. Then he was gone. The other two Valkyries followed him. I didn’t look, but I felt rather than saw them leave. I blew out air.

The blonde who’d stayed seated during the entire exchange, got up and walked toward me. She stopped by my chair. “I saw your face, Cora. I know you can see and hear us. Don’t be scared. You’re not going crazy or anything like that. I want to help you.”

“Why?” I heard myself ask and cringed. I didn’t dare look at her.

“My sister did this to you. If she hadn’t marked you, you wouldn’t be seeing us now.”

Marked me? I looked up and our eyes met. Hers were filled with pity, which annoyed me. I hated being pitied.

“Why would a Valkyrie mark me?” I asked.

“She was an Immortal, like me, not a Valkyrie. I’ll text you,” the girl said.

“Cora?”

Raine! I whipped around and saw her. She looked terrible, her eyes red and hair a mess. She wore the same clothes she’d worn to school. I jumped to my feet, rushed past the blonde, as though she wasn’t there, and hugged Raine. Had she seen me talk to myself? I leaned back and studied her face.

“How’s he doing?” I asked.

Her chin trembled. “He’s still in a coma. He looks bad. Really bad.”

I held her and fought my own tears. Damn my tear ducts. Through a haze, I saw Raine’s mother talking and smiling with my parents. What the hell was wrong with her? How could she be smiling at a time like his? I never understood her. No one could be this chipper all the time. Even when Raine’s father had gone missing, she’d carried on like he’d gone on an extended vacation or something. When our eyes met.

“Thanks for coming,” Raine mumbled after what seemed like forever.

“You’d do the same if Dad was…” I sighed. No need to spell it out. “Do you want me to get you anything?”

“No. I’m just happy you came.” She glanced over my shoulder, and I followed her gaze to see the two male Valkyries walking toward us. They didn’t have runes this time, but their hair looked disheveled. Andris had a rip on his shirt. A hollow feeling settled in my stomach.
