Teaser Tuesday and the last teaser of 2013 Captured by Erica Stevens~12/31/13

Teaser Tuesday~Captured by Erica Stevens

Blood Slave.

Captured, taken from her beloved family and woods, Aria’s biggest fear is not the imminent death facing her, but that she will be chosen as a blood slave for a member of the ruling vampire race. No matter what becomes of her though, Aria knows that she must keep her identity hidden from the monsters imprisoning her. She has already been branded a member of the rebellion, but the vampires do not know the true depth of her involvement with it, and they must never know.

Though hoping for death, Aria’s world is turned upside down when a vampire named Braith steps forward to claim her. He delays her execution, but Aria knows it’s only a matter of time before he drains her, and destroys her. Especially once she learns his true identity as a prince within the royal family; the same royal family that started the war that ultimately brought down humankind, reducing them to nothing more than servants and slaves.

Aria is determined to hate the prince, determined not to give into him in anyway, but his strange kindness, and surprising gentleness astonish her. Torn between her loyalties to the rebellion, and her growing love for her greatest enemy, Aria struggles to decide between everything she has ever known, and a love she never dreamed of finding.

Teaser:

She was surprised by the smile on his face; it was rare to see such a thing on him. He was always somewhat reserved and perfunctory , but he seemed to be enjoying the book nearly as much as she was. Aria took great pleasure in his smile, and interjected at times with the few words she knew. She found herself smiling with him as he taught her to read with an endless patience she was troubled to realize she found endearing.

Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu

Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu

He is a Legend.

She is a Prodigy.

Who will be Champion?

June and Day have sacrificed so much for the people of the Republic—and each other—and now their country is on the brink of a new existence. June is back in the good graces of the Republic, working within the government’s elite circles as Princeps-Elect, while Day has been assigned a high-level military position.

But neither could have predicted the circumstances that will reunite them: just when a peace treaty is imminent, a plague outbreak causes panic in the Colonies, and war threatens the Republic’s border cities. This new strain of plague is deadlier than ever, and June is the only one who knows the key to her country’s defense. But saving the lives of thousands will mean asking the one she loves to give up everything.

With heart-pounding action and suspense, Marie Lu’s bestselling trilogy draws to a stunning conclusion.

This book was AMAZING! What an ending to one of my favorite book series ever. I can't believe all the things that happen in this book. There is suspense, action, romance, and heartbreak all in one book!! I am sad that this is the last booking the series, but what a book it was. If you haven't read the other two, Legend and Prodigy, you are missing out. This was a spectacular ending for a country who is sick, the people who fight with their heart, and for Day and June who we all know belong together. In the end, you feel the need to cry, especially if you are a girl or if you totally understand what they are going trough, but you are happy with the end. Now with the books we read, we always want a different ending. An ending that makes us all feel better, no mater what the ending really is. In this book, I want a different ending, but know that the ending that has took place is a necessary one for us and Day and June. I praise Marie Lu on a job well done and hope she can write another series that equals the spectacularness of this series. But the burning question for those who have read the first two books is, Who is the Champion?

"We don't say a word until June finally stops us at a small, steaming café several blocks from my apartment. Right away I can see why she chose it—it's mostly empty, a tiny little spot on the first floor of a towering high-rise washed wet with slush, and not very well lit. Even though it's open to the air, like many other café in the area, it has a few dark nooks that are nice for us to sit at, and its only lights come from glowing, cube-shaped lateens on each of its tables. A hostess ushers us inside, seating us at June's request in one of the shadowy corners. Flat pleas of scented water sit scatters throughout the café. I shiver, even though our spot is petty warm from our heat lantern."

"What are we doing her again? A strange fog washes over me, then clears. We're here for dinner, that's what we're doing. I shake my head. I recall the brief struggle I'd had a few days ago, whenI couldn't remember Lucy's name. A frighting thought emerges.

Maybe this is  new symptom. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid.

After we place our orders, June speaks up. The gold decks in her eyes shine in the lantern's orange glow. 'Why didn't you tell me?' she whispers.

I hold my hands against the lantern, savoring the heat. 'What good would it have done?'"

The Clan by Realm Lovejoy

The Clan by Realm Lovejoy

Clans are Unity.

No variation. No deviation.

On Clades, to be a Clan is to be an exact copy.
A perfect society cloning themselves to survive,
even as the zombielike Frags threaten to overrun them
on an unforgiving planet.

Clan 1672 (privately known as Twain)
was never supposed to survive the Incubation Tank.
But he did. Illegally.
He is different from the other Clans.

A secret that could destroy him.

This book is about a clone named Twain who is mutated. He has the eyes the color of dead fish and has a freak mutation that his sponsor purposely gave him. But you won't know what until a certain event takes place. An event that will change everything. Clans are supposed to act like one another and look like one another. They are never supposed to be different in anyway, but 1672, aka Twain, is. This book is Twain's journey about how he discovers the mutation and how he interacts with the other Clans because he has never been in contact with anyone but his sponsor Twigg.

This was an interesting book to read. I have never read a science fiction book like this before. I never actually read a science fiction outside of school so this was a new experience. It was different then what I expected. I loved the ending. It was a good book to read if you are a science fiction addict.

One lost love.

One lost best friend.

One host soul reaper.

Straight out of the psych ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn’t want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. The guy she’s loved from a distance for years moves away without saying goodbye. So yes, she’s nursing a serious heartbreak. It’s no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her life.

The chemistry between them is mind-blowing. The connection defies logic. Too bad Echo is the poster boy for everything she hates in a guy—hot, beautiful, and cocky. He is also a soul reaper. A Grimnir. A genial pain-in-the-butt. Being around him makes her feel alive than she's ever felt before. But more important,  the souls leave her alone when he is around.

Echo is perfect for her. Echo might even be her soul-mate. There is only one problem. Echo is a freaking soul reaper. A Grimnir. The very thing she wants out of her life. Maybe normal is overrated because Cora wants it all. Answers. Love. A life. You see, once you fall for a Grimnir, your life will never be the same again.

Excerpt:

“You, doll-face. Why are you having a shitty day?”

I glared ahead. “Because you are screwing with my head. How come you keep saying things I don’t remember?”

“I told you. The Norns put a whammy on you.”

“Norns?”

“Deities of destiny. Mean, bitter hags. They control the destiny of all beings—Mortals, Immortals, even the gods. Interestingly, I just found out why they targeted you and erased your memories.”

“Why?” Not that I believed his rambling.

“Say please.”

I was tempted to ignore him, but something weird had happened to me and I wanted answers. I eased the car into a parking spot across from my school, switched off the engine, and turned to look at Echo. He was dressed in all leather again today. I realized that what I’d assumed was a leather shirt was actually a vest of some kind. Once again, he wore fingerless gloves and silver Gothic rings with weird markings.

“Please,” I said through clenched teeth.

He touched his lips. “I want a kiss, too.”

I narrowed my eyes. “Why are you such a tool all the time? You think this is fun for me? Not remembering things? Waking up one morning and seeing souls? Ending up in a psych ward, where they pumped me full of drugs, then coming home only to be met by you, a reaper?”

“Grimnir,” he corrected then frowned. “Are those the fake memories the Norns gave you? Psych ward? That’s just wrong.”

“I was in a psych ward,” I snapped.

He raised his hands. “Okay. No need to be snippy.”

“I’m not—”

He covered my mouth then smirked when I bit his hand. I bore down until I tasted blood. He didn’t even wince. His grin broadened instead.

“Drink my blood, doll-face. Bond with me for eternity.”

The thought was scary. I pushed his hand away and wiped my mouth. “Ew. Can your blood do that?”

He laughed.

“Will you be serious for even a second?” I asked.

“Don’t you want to be mine forever?”

“Ew, no.” I made a face. “I don’t even like you.”

AUTHOR BIO
EDNAH WALTERS grew up reading Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys and dreaming of one day writing her own stories. She is a stay-at-home mother of five humans and two American short-hair cats (one of which has ADHD) and a husband. When she is not writing, she’s at the gym doing Zumba or doing things with her family, reading, traveling or online chatting with fans.

Ednah is the author of The Guardian Legacy series, a YA fantasy series about children of the fallen angels, who fight demons and protect mankind. AWAKENED, the prequel was released by Pill Hill Press in September 2010 with rave reviews. BETRAYED, book one in the series was released by her new publisher Spencer Hill Press in June 2012 and HUNTED, the third installment, will be released April 2013. She’s working on the next book in the series, FORGOTTEN. Visit her at www.ednahwalters.com

Ednah also writes YA paranormal romance. RUNES is the first book in her new series. IMMORTALS is book 2. She just released book 3, GRIMNIRS December 2, 2013. Read more about this series and the world she's created here www.runestheseries.com

Under the pseudonym E. B. Walters, Ednah writes contemporary romance. SLOW BURN, the first contemporary romance with suspense, was released in April 2011. It is the first book in the Fitzgerald family series. Since then she has published four more books in this series. She's presently working on book six. You can visit her online at or www.ebwalters.com.
My Review:

This book was amazing. It deserves 11 stars for its impressive performance in the Rune series. And lets not forget why this book was written, ECHO. He is amazingly hot. Almost as hot as Torin, and that is saying something. Echo has stolen my heart which is filled with my book boyfriends and made a spot for himself. You hear of Echo in the second book, Immortals, but now you get to meet him in all of his sexiness.

I know this book is all about Cora, but you get a real taste of her, instead of how Raine talks her. She is almost the same in all three books, but this gives you an inside clue to what is going on in her head during all of this. She made a great heroine who unraveled the puzzle a piece at a time. And because she is Cora, she caught on to things pretty quickly. Although sometimes it took a few minutes when it came to Echo.

I have been a fan of Ednah Walters for about two years and with her, you never know what to expect. She takes you through a roller coaster of emotions and at the end leaves you satisfied yet craving for more. I can't wait for the third book to come out and I hope it gets here soon.
